1. Description

Phytosterols Concept is a food supplement based on phytosterols, olive extract, coenzyme Q10 and vitamins B6, B9 and B12. The combination and synergy of all these ingredients will, on the one hand, reduce total cholesterol and on the other hand, prevent the oxidation of LDL. This complex is therefore a real cardiovascular protector. Phytosterols are plant lipids.

These are compounds naturally present in plants and in all foods of plant origin. Phytosterols have been used for a long time due to their cholesterol-lowering properties. Numerous studies demonstrate their ability to reduce total plasma concentrations and LDL by approximately 8 days SP without affecting HDL levels. Phytosterols are structurally similar to cholesterol. The main action of phytosterols is the inhibition of intestinal absorption of cholesterol. In fact, these compounds compete with cholesterol in the intestine, and thus reduce its absorption. The olive fruit contains a significant amount of phenolic compounds, the main ones being hydroxytyrosol and oleuropein. It is well demonstrated that olive phenolic compounds have significant antioxidant activity and are efficiently absorbed in the body.

The EFSA (European Food Safety Agency) has recognized that a daily intake of at least 5 mg of hydroxytyrosol and its derivatives helps protect blood lipids (including LDL cholesterol) against oxidative stress. This reduction in cholesterol is mainly due to the inhibition by hydroxytyrosol of the enzyme HMG-CoA reductase, a key enzyme in cholesterol biosynthesis.

Daily supplementation with vitamin B6, folic acid (B9) and vitamin B12 reduces the level of homocysteine in the blood, a pro-inflammatory amino acid, a marker of cardiovascular risk. This explains their potential effects in reducing cardiovascular risk.

Coenzyme Q10 helps fight the oxidation of bad cholesterol (LDL) and the formation of atherosclerotic plaque. In addition, the production of coenzyme Q10 by the body decreases sharply with age. It reduces fatigue and muscle pain.
